I Bought You Something in Denmark!

Yes, I'm on vacation and I'm thinking of you. I saw these bowls and thought they were the most adorable (and useful) prep bowls. They are made of melamine and are dishwasher safe but should NOT be used in the microwave or oven. They have a non-slip bottom and a pour spout. They were designed and made in Denmark. I recall seeing similar bowls on America's Test Kitchen and they found that spices like turmeric stained the bottom. I'm not sure if that will be the case with these so beware.

Since my suitcase isn't big enough to bring back one of these for each of you, I'll randomly pick a winner from everyone who leaves a comment on this post telling me what is your favorite thing to buy your friends back home when you're on vacation (yes, I need ideas!) I'll pick a winner a 9 AM Pacific June 17th. Only U.S. and Canada addresses (sorry!)

Totally random and unnecessary photo of the view from my balcony. Yes, it's cold and rainy.

What a wonderful vacation!!

I like to bring my friends back something you can't find at home.

I always bring myself a spoon (I collect those) and a Christmas ornament.

Safe travels. Thanks for the opportunity!

great giveaway. I like to bring home chocolates bars, bookmarks, and local spices.

Magnets or keychains, they can be found anywhere and can be useful back home!

Looks like you're enjoying your vacation to the fullest!! Sorry to hear it's cold and rainy over there. I won't rub in the gorgeous weather I had while in Morocco :o)

Well, I often vacation in Europe so I always bring back chocolate, assorted candies (like salty licorice - YUM), and cookies made with REAL butter. Whenever I visit in Morocco, I usually bring back spices, and stuff that is made by hand like tea pots, these cute leather slippers in diff colors, and scarves.

First of all, those bowls totally match my kitchen and I'd be devastated to not have them...LOL

When I go to Mexico, I bring back vanilla and tequilla. When I go to my home town I bring back the BBQ powder that I can find nowhere else. And when I go to Key West, I bring back a suitcase full of dirty clothes, which no one finds appetizing or chooses to help with.

Vacation, what's that? =P I hope you're enjoying yourself (and feeling better!). I've only traveled within the US, but my favorite thing to bring home for people is food. Like some sort of regional specialty.

The little bowls are lovely...lovely color, lovely size, and lovely that they have a grip on the bottom and spout! How practical. What a great gift to bring back. When I go places, I bring back things, but depends where I go, and who I am bringing back for...LOL...not any one thing, but something that reminds me of that person and I had to get it for them.

Bummer about the dreary weather on your vacation Leslie - I hope it clears up and you get some nice days before you leave :)

Hmmm, it's been a while since I've been on vacation outside of the US, but I generally bring back food or magnets (random, but some people really like to have them from lots of countries).

You're in Denmark?!? My son-in-law is from Denmark! :)

I always look for something that is made in the country I am visiting. If I am here in the starts then I look for something found in that area. Hope you are having a great time!

Oh, thanks for the kind words. I may take you up on doing a recipe together while tweeting...sounds like it could be fun. :)

I've not traveled much, but we seem to have brought back mostly food.

I hope you get some nice weather!

Personally I like to buy them something in the area that's special. I remember back in 2007 when I went back to China, I bought some of my friends a painting of their name. I know they do it here in America too, but something about getting it done in China made it special. It was cool to see their names painted and they really liked it!

Fun bowls.
Fun vacation! Not so fun weather. ;)
I like to bring back things specific to wherever I'm visiting---so I guess souvenirs. Kinda boring. I like looking at unique foods or things to bake with as well and making goodies for people when I return.

The bowls are so cute!

Interesting food gifts are at the top of my list, but with the carry-on restrictions, it's hard to bring things like jam or honey. Chocolate is usually a popular gift though.

The bowls are great, bright in color to cheer us up as we wait for our cinnamon loaves to finish baking. Groan.

I bring something from the country, usually a mug with the country's name on it.

I used to travel all the time for work, and my friends and family started requesting things. For one I had to get tea towels, for another a T-shirt, and often a magnet or a keychain, as someone else mentioned. My favourite thing is pottery, which is beautiful, but so hard to pack and carry. And food, of course!

When I was staying in England with a new job waiting for me when I got back, I brought home the most gorgeous chocolates that had fruit in them that I had been munching on the entire time I was there. My new coworkers decided on the spot that they liked me fine!

Girl you are cracking me up. One who loves chocolate as much as you. That is what I would buy. Of course some for myself too. The other thing that is cool I think is a holiday themed item from that country.
Have a great trip or if you are home already, I hope it was fun.

PS I'm glad you liked the dressed up choco cake hehe

Love the bowls! I usually buy regional treats when I go on vacation, if I buy anything at all. There's plenty of sun waiting for you in the Bay Area.

I would buy kinder shokolade. My grandma used to let me have one piece everyday and I am now 24 and still long to have a piece everyday.

For the more grown up crowd, liquor filled chocolates. I remember Germany having delicious ones.

If chocolate doesn't please, I'd get marmalades or small bottles of liquor. For a more traditional approach: get the painted beer mugs with flip top handles. THey look awesome and festive!!!
