Chewy, Chunky Blondies
There are so many bad blondie recipes that I automatically assume that all blondie recipes are bad. In general, they're dry and not as yummy as their cousin the brownie. I've made Martha's brown butter blondies before to great acclaim but that's been the exception for me. Until Dorie's blondies. They were so delicious with their additions of chocolate chips, coconut, walnuts and chopped toffee (I used Skor) that I made them twice in three days. The first time I made them I was tweeting with my friend Kayte and I had a blast making them. Kayte managed to eat around the chocolate and she loved them, too. I didn't give enough of them away and M. and I ate too many both times.
I lined the pan with parchment to eliminate sticking and ease cleanup. Because who wants to lose a bit of this beauty?
This wonderful recipe comes from Baking From My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan. Tuesdays with Dorie is baking its way through this super book. Our host this week and the person who chose this recipe) was Nicole of Cookies on Friday. Nicole, we loved your pick and I know I'll be making it again and again.
If you'd like to have the recipe, you can buy the book, or Nicole will have it for you here. And you can see what the other TWD bakers thought of it here.
Wow, looks like you had way more succes with the blondies than I did! They look good enough to eat ;)
ReplyDeleteI loved these too - they tasted so much better than I thought they would.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteI heart blondies
Your blondies look perfect. Mine were good but didn't look like Dories--or yours!
ReplyDeleteThese were fun to make...and eat... :) Glad these turned out so well for you. They look delicious!
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% - there are so many not so good blondie recipes out there but these are certainly not one of them :-) My favourite Dorie recipe!
ReplyDeleteI love that close-up with the beautiful, clean cut walnut chunk! I wish I had a batch right now.:)
ReplyDeleteOooh we loved these. Yours look really thick and delicious!!
ReplyDeleteThese blondies are perfect. Perfect. And are good for any additions. You can even leave out the chocolate!
ReplyDeleteYour blondies look AMAZING! Perfect!! These are my absolute favorite!! YUM!
ReplyDeleteWow, these look great...it was really fun baking them with you, and I made them again a few days later as well as the boys loved them. Probably need to make them again. This was the best month for getting TWD done as you kept me baking ahead of schedule. Can we do that again please???
ReplyDeleteThese are one of my favorite recipes in the book. And yours are just lovely.
ReplyDeleteYours look scrumptious. I'm thinking these are a big winner in the win loose column. I think everyone likes these.... including me. Even without gobs of chocolate in my mouth. hehe

I agree with you. I've never been a big fan of blondies, but this recipe changed my mind. It's difficult not to eat them all!
ReplyDeleteI love blondies and I was lucky enough to find a good recipe the first time trying them. But these go into my 'fully loaded' blondie box :) These were great!! I was smart, I served them at a party where I was too busy hostessing rather than eating my weight in these ;)
ReplyDeleteThey look fantastic!
Yummy - do you have any extras laying around?
ReplyDeleteYour blondies turned out perfect! I thought these were just fabulous and so did the hubby! We are keeping them all for ourselves! :D
ReplyDeleteTHOSE look amazing. They were quite tasty, weren't they.
ReplyDeleteYour blondies look gorgeous! I like this recipe too, it's really yummy!
ReplyDeleteThey look perfect! I know we would have loved these, but I skipped this week.
ReplyDeleteI glad I picked a recipe that changed your opinion about blondies. I really loved these and I'm glad that everyone else liked them too. Thanks for baking along with me this week.
ReplyDeleteTerrific picture!! Loved this recipe and it's definitely a favorite here, too. Can't wait to make them again.
