This week's Tuesdays with Dorie pick was chosen for us by Tanya of Chocolatechic. Tanya has good taste, especially when it comes to chocolate.
Lots of people had problems with these. They were soft, unbaked in the middle, crunchy edges, crumbly topped misunderstood bundles of chocolate deliciousness.
Can you tell I liked them?
They have a lot of flaws (see above). But they have a key virtue: just enough flour to almost hold them together. Once you accept they aren't pretty, you're ready to experience their pure fudgy goodness.
Thanks, Tanya. I knew you wouldn't let me down.
If you'd like the recipe, Tanya will have it. Trust me, if you like brownies, you want the recipe.
Now that looks exactly what I thought a brownie would look like! Congratulations, yours look perfect. It was fun baking with you, as always. I miss you for next week and the chocolate chip cookies, I will have to make those alone, and no doubt Tracey and I will be scrambling around opening our books on Monday...LOL.
ReplyDeleteThese are my kind of brownies!!! Yummy!!!
ReplyDeleteMisunderstood brownies! Love it. I had trouble with them, too. But it was nothing a second trip to the oven couldn't fix.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right... their imprefections are almost the key to their perfection! Bravo Leslie for the philosophical brownie bit of the day! Very well said and done! LOL LOL lol
ReplyDeleteBeautiful brownie.
ReplyDeleteI just knew that they would be delicious.
I love these brownies. They were distinct in the flavor. Your are a lot better looking than mine but I bet mine tastes as good.
ReplyDeleteDespite any difficulties, these were the chewiest, most flavorful brownie. You summed it up beautifully.
Beautiful! They look so fudgy and yummy. I'm still behind in TWD; hopefully next week I'll be back in the saddle again.
ReplyDeletej'en croquerai volontiers a ces brownies, ça à l'air excellent

I love that top photo Leslie!! Your brownies look awesome. I don't usually like fudgy brownies but these made me a convert. I definitely benefited from everyone else's experiences this week.
ReplyDeleteawesome job! mmmm fudgy brownies. i'm glad I found your blog - I'm an accountant/baker too!
ReplyDeleteI agree, I always drool when I visit chocolatechic. Mmm.. I love those crunchy edges!
ReplyDeleteThose look incredibly fudgy. Yum! I have a favorite brownie recipe already (Nick Malgieri's Supernatural Brownies; they won blue ribbons at my State Fair - you can find the recipe on Cookstr.com), but I'll have to try Dorie's recipe, since I have her book.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your brownies, they look perfect.

Well said, Leslie - these were really, really good!
ReplyDeleteYummy. I loved these. Mine were really fudgy. They look great.
ReplyDeleteHa!! I agree...not so much pretty...but delicious intense chocolate..yes! Yum! So glad you loved these!
ReplyDeleteMisunderstood. What a great way to describe these brownies. I think that's exactly what they are. Yet, you understand them so well :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful brownies!!
The first mini brownie I took out of the pan crumbled into lots of delicious pieces that the hubby and I scarfed up! Yours looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. They are plain-looking but make up for it in taste.
ReplyDeleteAnd I *will* use better chocolate next time.
Ya know, you clearly defined these as "misunderstand." I like these a lot with that shroud of misunderstanding. The oooey gooey chocolate goodness is totally right with me. Glad you liked too.

My brownies looked just like yours - and I used the same pan. Only difference? I couldn't seem to follow the recipe correctly, and I baked a bit of the dough in a separate pan. Yum, brownies! They look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI am willing to overlook flaws for brownies this good. I'm glad you liked them as much as I did.
ReplyDeleteCiao ! Your brownies look great !
ReplyDeleteYum! I am making these on Saturday or Sunday I think. Need to have something chocolisciuos to bake!
ReplyDeleteYour brownies look great! I was a little worried about the outcome too, but YUM!
ReplyDeleteThose look perfect. Dark and delicious.
ReplyDeleteLove brownies and these are NO exception.
These brownies were pure awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteYou brownies look great! Everyone loved them, they are so delicious. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely - like the old Picnic bar ad, these were "deliciously ugly".
ReplyDeleteMisunderstood - perfect. Looks were so so but the taste? fabulous!
ReplyDeletelooks like they came out just right to me!! mmmm!
ReplyDeleteThey could have been prettier, but I'll take fudgy and delicious over a pretty brownie any day!
